On My Mind: Words From The Publisher

By Rhee Gold, Publisher

Recitals Made Easy

“The show was a hit!”

“Your recital was like a Broadway show!”

“Thanks for making our daughter feel so special!”

“The costumes were beautiful!”

“Your recital theme was so clever and entertaining.”

“Thank you!”

That’s the kind of feedback you like to receive after one of your school’s performances—not only because it’s good for the dancers, but because there’s nothing better than positive word of mouth for your classrooms and your business.

In this issue, you’ll find tips on everything that can make your presentation the best it can be, from how to run a successful dress rehearsal, to preparing your youngest students for their first recital, to using props and backdrops. And as always in our November issue, you’ll find more costume suggestions and resources than anywhere else. What could be better than entire recital strategies— costume selections; specific song suggestions; backdrop, program cover, and organizational tips—all related to one central theme, and all in one place and in a one-of-a-kind foldout presentation. And we’ve got three of them!

Whether you call your school’s performance a recital, a concert, or something else, consider this month’s Goldrush your partner in helping you to put on the most creative, most unique, and best organized performances ever. Also, please take a moment to let the advertisers who made this edition such a success know that you saw them in Goldrush.

Big Announcement!

On page 17 of the November issue you’ll discover a new program that I’m so excited to announce: the DanceLife Teacher Conference. It’s a revolutionary concept for school owners, their teachers and school managers, and the significant others of those who have a passion for dance education.

The DanceLife Teacher Conference will feature two tracks, one for business and one for the classroom, plus an additional series of Project Motivate sessions with me that will be open to both tracks.

For those of you who have attended Project Motivate, this is a chance for you to share the positive message and inspiration with your faculty; they’ll go home refreshed and eager to share the endless amount of material offered, not to mention the inspiration they’ll pass on to your students. The classroom track will include everything about what to teach your dancers, from recreational to advanced, covering both technique and choreography. With content that covers preschool-age creative movement, ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, modern, acrossthe- floor work, routines, choreography concepts, improving pirouettes, and so much more, the DanceLife Teacher Conference will energize your faculty.

My objective is to offer an experience that will inspire attendees for years to come. There’s a lot more information, including details about the DanceLife Teacher Conference business track, at www.dancelifeteacherconference.com. Please check it out—and I’ll see you there!
