On My Mind:
Words From The Publisher
By Rhee Gold, Publisher
A Time For Celebration
Often
Goldrush readers and Project Motivate participants ask me
how I keep up with all I do—and sometimes I wonder the same
thing. But the answer becomes clear to me when Angela Harris,
a dance teacher from St. Clarksville, OH, writes to
Goldrush to say, “I love what you do for the dance world!”
or DeAnna Boyd from Wake Forest, NC, says, “Out of all the
dance profession magazines and resources . . . [Goldrush]
by far is the best and most practical advice . . . [It’s]
always a great encouragement and gives me a laugh or two. I
finish the magazine
motivated
and enthused about teaching and running the studio.” When
words like those make their way to our door, I realize that I
can keep up with it all because I feel like we at the Rhee
Gold Company are making a difference in
the dance
community. To me there’s nothing more rewarding!
This
edition of Goldrush marks our second anniversary as
well as our big move from a bimonthly magazine to nine issues
annually. It’s the perfect time to show my appreciation to all
those who have helped to make the magazine such a huge
success. There would be no Goldrush without our
advertisers, who not only keep us going financially but
constantly offer words of encouragement and spread the good
word about the results they receive from our readers.
Then there
is my staff. The day we launched Goldrush, my company
consisted of two employees: Helen, who had stayed on from my
days as a competition director, and myself. Today we have
Diane, Beth, Paul, Rob, Scott, Theresa, Cheryl, Mim, Julia,
Sheila, Gail, and Carol all focused on making Goldrush
the best it can be. I couldn’t ask for a better crew.
And to all
of our writers, thanks for your passion. The comments I hear
most often are about how Goldrush writers truly
understand the soul of the teacher and school owner. I’m proud
of that, and I appreciate your knowledge.
At the end
of each Project Motivate seminar I make it a point to tell the
participants that I can offer marketing ideas, organizational
concepts, classroom material, and so on, but in reality, I
believe that all business owners need to do what they do for
the right reasons—and with passion. That’s what will make you
a success. I’m not talking about success that’s defined by a
million-dollar income (though that’s not a bad thing!); I’m
talking about being satisfied with making a positive impact.
Goldrush is my example of just how that works.
Enjoy!
