Summer Study
With A Twist
Lazar
Ballet NYC’s on-site program brings summer intensives to
schools
Artistic
Director Elie Lazar, who founded Lazar Ballet NYC in 2005,
develops on-site intensive dance programs that are presented
as summer workshops or as part of weeklong residency seminars
at schools in the United States. The program includes public
performances, lecture-demonstrations, and master classes.
Previously Lazar founded and directed the Joffrey Ensemble
Dancers, a performance group associated with the Joffrey
Ballet School in New York City. He is also the founder and
director of the Joffrey Ballet School Summer Intensive in
Milledgeville, GA.
The Lazar
Ballet NYC summer intensive is a one- or two-week residential
program that includes daily classes in ballet, pointe, men’s
classes, variations, and pas de deux, taught by Lazar and his
company dancers. It also introduces students to the classical
ballet repertoire and to contemporary works from Lazar
Ballet’s repertoire. The company offers a full-length
performance as part of the residency, and the students,
partnered by the company men, dance in a pre-performance show.
Advanced-level dancers may take company classes and observe
daily rehearsals.
