The purpose
of the ADAPT Teacher’s Training School (T.T.S.) is to
encourage and train senior dancers and assistant teachers who
are interested in becoming professional dance teachers, as
well as dance teachers who are already teaching and are
interested in improving their teaching skills and earning
their ADAPT Certification.
The course
is a graduating, seven-day intensive “learn to teach dancing”
course and is held each summer for three consecutive years. It
is a progressive three-year program and participants are
expected to attend all three summers in order to achieve their
ADAPT Teacher’s Certificate.

Cecchetti Method. The Cecchetti method offers a completely
balanced and analyzed system of theory and execution for the

teachers ages 20+ (no students). Five 90-minute classes each
day on a wide range of subjects from “How To Teach Better
Pirouettes,” “Stretching Techniques For Acrobatics And
Contortion,” “Do’s And Don’ts For Competition/Recitals,”
“Lifts For Boys And Girls,” and other subjects that deal with
teaching and running a studio. Continental breakfast and lunch
is included daily, plus a “Get-together Cocktail Evening.”
This is the workshop for teachers to ask questions on running
a business or learning techniques to make students better
faster. The faculty is drawn from master teachers with years
of experience in the teaching and performing fields.

DEA is
celebrating its 75th Anniversary and the 65th Anniversary of
its Teacher Training & Certification Program. A dynamic,
multidimensional program enhancing and furthering the
knowledge of dance and teaching techniques based on “How-What-
When & Why” to teach and prepare for certification (by
examinations) in the five major dance subjects at three levels
of achievement, sanctioned by the University of Nevada at Las
Vegas. This program is for both the young teacher, and for the
established teacher wishing to renew, revitalize, and advance
his/her teaching methods in classical ballet, tap, modern,
jazz, and acro/tumbling. Program open to teachers ages 18+
with 4+ years intensive training in dance.

The Dance
Masters Of America, Inc. Teachers Training School Program is
by far the shining star of DMA’s arsenal for dance education
for both teachers and prospective teachers. The program is
comprehensive, informative, and includes all aspects of
teaching methods and techniques for the education of students
in most subjects from early childhood to professional status.
The program is set up with a progressive four year curriculum
with classes on a daily basis from 8 a.m. to dinner hour, with
intensive studies, optional classes, and review classes for
those preparing for the examinations and the awarding of their
diploma held in the evenings.

The Dance
Masters Of America, Inc. has extended its TTS beyond the four
year program with the addition of its new Masters in Dance
Direction. This program views dance as a communicative art
with multiple roles: performance, choreography, education,
recreation, production, and research. The focus is to expand
beyond the extremely successful TTS program with practical
work, thought, and research, which will include the
candidate’s vision and dance identity. It endeavors to develop
skills in the creative process, the integration of arts and
dance sciences, extended research in dance and its related
areas, and the application of these in the art of dance.
